Rudd in witness protection?
The Labor Government has used Standing Orders in Federal Parliamentary Question Time to hide the Prime Minister, placing him in the Parliamentary equivalent of the witness protection program, Christopher Pyne, Manager of Opposition Business said today.
"The Government used their numbers in the Chamber to twice shut down motions, moved by the Opposition, that would have allowed the Prime Minister to answer the charges that he has mislead the Parliament and has broken his own key election promises," Mr Pyne said.
"Then surprisingly, unlike most days where Mr Rudd answers a number of Dorothy Dixer questions from his own side, today he had only one question, which was from the Member for Deakin," he said.
Why has Mr Rudd gone into hiding? Could it be that the Labor Party no longer trusts the Prime Minister to defend himself?
With a growing list of bungles, backflips and broken promises, Labor will soon be issuing Mr Rudd with a new identity and bundling him off to a remote location.
"The Government's tactics today reveal just how concerned they have become about the Prime Minister's ability as the Leader of the Labor Party and as the Prime Minister of Australia," Mr Pyne said.
