Parents and Teachers at Belmont Primary deserve the truth Mr Shorten
The Leader of the Opposition, Bill Shorten needs to explain to the teachers, students and parents at Belmont Primary School this morning why he cut $1.2 billion in additional commonwealth school funding just before the election including $120 million for Western Australian schools.
If Labor had won the election, Western Australian schools would not have received the $120 million in additional commonwealth funding. Mr Shorten removed all the funding for Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory totalling $1.2 billion.
Unfortunately under Mr Shorten and Labor Belmont Primary School would not have received any of this additional funding.
It took the Coalition to restore this funding to the Budget by putting in $1.2 billion more than Labor and guaranteeing funding over the next four years.
The Coalition has delivered a truly national school funding agreement and is increasing Commonwealth funding on average by 50% per student over the next four years for Government schools, and 23% for non-government schools.
Labor is engaged in a hypocritical scare campaign in WA since it was Bill Shorten who ripped the funding out of Western Australian schools and now refuses even to commit Labor to funding the 5th and 6th year of their school funding model.
