'My School 2.0' lasts two weeks
Often cited by Labor as one of the key education reforms of the Gillard Government, the 'My School' website re-launch announced by Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, and Schools Minister, Peter Garrett - just two weeks ago - has been dumped until next year.
"This is another in a long list of humiliating disasters for Mr Garrett, who along with the Prime Minister, boasted about the changes to 'My School' during the last Parliamentary sittings of 2010," said Christopher Pyne, Shadow Minister for Education.
"Now the new website has been delayed until next year with no set date for the re-launch," Mr Pyne said.
"Announcing a new date for the re-launch would be far too ambitious for this incompetent, uninspiring, utterly hopeless Government," he said.
Mr Garrett, who failed to successfully deliver the pink batts program, the solar panels program and the green loans program, has now failed to re-launch a website.
The chorus of criticism from the Coalition and the non-government school sector over the 'My School' website should have been heeded earlier.
Julia Gillard was desperate for a headline after having been accused of policy paralysis by her own Party and she announced something that simply wasn't ready.
"It is a terrible embarrassment for Ms Gillard and yet another nail in Mr Garrett's political coffin," Mr Pyne said.
