Government refuses to defend Combet over misleading Parliament
The Leader of the House, Anthony Albanese, ran obstruction tactics and interference in Parliament this morning to avoid defending the Minister for Climate Change, Greg Combet over charges he mislead the House of Representatives.
Any government worth its salt would have debated this matter given the gravity of the charge - misleading the House of Representatives is a very serious offence.
Even though the Opposition won two votes with the support of independent Members to continue the debate, including an extension of time, the Government tactics ran down the time in defiance of the majority will of the House. This Government is petrified of debate.
