Another Rudd ‘all talk no action’ promise

06 Aug 2013 Media release

Kevin Rudd's plan to fund before and after hours school care is a timely reminder of his 'all talk and no action' promise to 'end the double drop off' in 2007. Back in 2007 Mr Rudd said he'd build 260 childcare centres all around Australia, to slash childcare costs and boost productivity. The Rudd Government dumped the programme after building just 38 centres. Child care costs have increased by 27 per cent in the last three years. Kevin Rudd’s old way is to talk big then under-deliver. His ‘new way’ is to talk big then under-deliver. Sound familiar? The Coalition will consult with both the States and the sector on the details of this proposal in order to check that the funding being promised can actually deliver what Labor claims. Only the Coalition can be trusted to ease cost of living expenses for families by providing a personal income tax cut without a carbon and reducing red tape. Parents know that they can either trust the Coalition who have a clear track record of delivering, or believe a party who has a record of breaking promises to families. August 6, 2013
