Hectorville Sports and Community Club Upgrade
The Hectorville Sports and Community Club (The Heccies) has been awarded a grant of $500,000 from the Federal Government through the Community Sport Infrastructure fund to assist with the cost of upgrading their clubroom facilities.
The Heccies is a fantastic community club, providing the local community with sporting and recreational services in the creation of social capital. For many years, the Heccies has done excellent work in engaging the local community and promoting both male and female participation in sporting activities.
The club is also used by the broader community, hosting meetings and events for the Campbelltown Rotary Club and the Magill Sunrise Rotary Club, making it an important social and activity place for a variety of groups in the local area.
It is great to see that they have been awarded this funding to upgrade the facilities at the Heccies, as this will ensure that the club can continue to serve our local community.
This funding from the Government will be invested in upgrading and improving the sporting facilities at the club, and is part of the Community Sport Infrastructure Grant program, which is investing $28 million in 223 projects across Australia to help drive increased participation in sports and physical activity.
The Liberal National Government is committed to investing in local community sporting organisations, as we recognises the health, social and community benefits of being active and participating in local sporting activities and clubs.
Along with the benefits that the Community Sport Infrastructure Grant programme will provide to local communities, 17 community groups in Sturt have also successfully received funding through the Stronger Communities Programme. This programme also assists local groups in delivering social benefits and contributing to the vibrancy of our great local community.
