$7.5 million to Campbelltown Leisure Centre
The Coalition Government went to the 2013 election with a committment to provdie $7.5 million toward the redevelopment of the Campbelltown Leisure Centre.
I committed $7.5 billion to fund this project after the Labor Government has rejected five Campbelltown Council bids in the past three years.
This federal funding commitment will allow this project to begin and see the transformation of the ageing 1970s Leisure Centre into a state of the art community centre.
It is a sorely needed infrastructure hub that will result in jobs and investment in the north-east of Adelaide. It will be a state-of-the-art sports facility that can be utilised by various groups and attract national competitions.
These are the reasons I promised funding for this redevelopment before the 2010 election and these are the reasons why I stood by this commitment after the 2013 election. The Liberals remain ready to immediately fund this important community infrastructure.
The centre will be developed at the end of 2015.
The Campbelltown Leisure Centre re-development is coming along nicely after last year’s announcement that the Federal Government would provide $7.5 million towards the project.
The development is currently in the design stage and after a lengthy public consultation period the Campbelltown City Council has adopted the Option B design which provides a much larger swimming area.
For more information on the design please visit this website: www.campbelltown.sa.gov.au/haveyoursay.
The Campbelltown Leisure centre will be an incredible precinct that will benefit all constituents in Sturt and I am proud that the Coalition Government has been able to help.
