Several constituents have contacted my office to express a variety of concerns regarding the proposed structure which could measure as wide as 27 metres and as high as 8 metres.
This seems like an enormous structure - too big and obtrusive for a largely residential area!
Local residents fear that this pumping station will completely destroy the environmental amenity of the area and devalue housing prices. Concerns also extend to issues surrounding the impact on significant trees, fauna that relies on this environment, traffic, security and noise.
I have also began hearing from residents in Gilberton where another huge structure is planned at a site near the Buckingham Arms Hotel.
I have written to the Hon Paul Caica, Minister for Water, to ask him to intervene.
I have begun circulating a petition calling for this proposed project to be reconsidered. It would be appreciated if you could return any signed petitions to my office in the envelope provided.
